FLYING IN TO BERLIN
This is the best and easiest traveling option. We will provide a Shuttle Bus for people flying in to Berlin to Schloss Neuhausen and back. (see below).
IF YOU FLY IN FROM THE US
or other destinations outside of Europe, it is probably easier to fly in to Frankfurt International Airport. It is possibly cheaper to travel on by other means than a connecting flight to Berlin. We will help you to figure out additional transport to Schloss Neuhausen.
TRAVEL BY TRAIN
The closest train station is Karstädt (Prignitz) Bahnhof, from there it is about 10 km to Schloss Neuhausen. There is a direct train connection from Berlin every 2 hours. The trip takes about 1 1/2 to 2 hours and costs around 20,00 to 25,00 EUR. Be advised that you won't be able to purchase return tickets at the station in Karstädt. Tickets should be available from the conducter on the train (for a higher fee though). We will also shuttle attendees to and from Karstädt for a small fee*. For more information on traveling by train, consult the Deutsche Bahn
. Make sure you have picked this train station as your destination for the search form: Bahnhof, Karstädt (Prignitz)
DRIVING BY CAR
Schloss Neuhausen is located about 1 1⁄2 hours from Berlin by road. We advise using a GPS navigation system as the environs of the Schloss is very rural. See the address above to feed your navigation system.
THE KRAKEN SHUTTLE BUS
We will provide a Shuttle Bus for people flying to Berlin to Schloss Neuhausen and back for a small fee**. The Shuttle Bus runs once on the first day of KRAKEN from Berlin Schoenefeld Airport
since most of our attendees fly there. You can as well fly to Berlin Tegel Airport and travel by public transport to Schoenefeld Airport to catch the Shuttle Bus. The Shuttle Bus will leave in the afternoon after the bulk of attendees have arrived. It will make it to the Schloss in time for dinner. On the way back to Berlin on Monday the Shuttle Bus will make a stop at Berlin Tegel Airport. We will provide you with more information about the Shuttle Bus after your registration.
WHEN TO ARRIVE AND LEAVE
Main events at THE KRAKEN start around 20:00 on the first day but you can check-in from 12:00 on. THE KRAKEN ends Monday at 11:00 after breakfast. If you travel to Berlin we advise you to arrive well before 14:00 on the first day to be able to catch our Shuttle Bus (see above). If you fly back from Berlin make sure that your plane leaves in the afternoon or evening since the Shuttle Bus will depart at the Schloss Monday 11:00 and will arrive at Berlin Schoenefeld Airport around 14:30.
Tip: Many people give themselves an extra day or two before or after THE KRAKEN to do a little sightseeing in Berlin.
