Celebrating 50 Years of Glorantha

The Origins of Glorantha

Host: Greg Stafford

In this Skype interview we will explore the origins of Glorantha and talk to Greg about the very first Glorantha game White Bear and Red Moon — and the many questions its odd secrets pose. Why do we know so little about Androgeus' role in the Hero Wars? Did you already know about the Dragonrise (see the location of the Brown Dragon)? What about all the other Dragons on the map? Who are the Puppeteers? The Dragontooth Runners? Was The Hound ever released? Where is Kallyr Starbrow?

Advanced Gaming Lore

Host: Robin D. Laws

Mr. Laws is a brilliant scholar of gaming and gaming narratives. We should use the presented opportunity to plug his brain and ask him some hard questions: How do you run a nonlinear campaign? How do you run deceit between characters? How do we play out a court intrigue? How do you run a double-blind investigation?

The Making of Awesome*

Host: Ian Brumby

In his Fenris Games presentation Ian will take us step-by-step through the process of making an awesome Gods War miniature — from concept art, to sculpt to casted resin model. So lean back and be entertained by pictures from a small and crowded but inspired workshop. By Orlanth, let it be a Dan Barker concept...

*Ian is far too modest to have come up with this title himself. But, it surely motivated him.

Conan and the Celluloid Serpent

Hosts: Jason Durall & Gianni Vacca

'Know o prince …' began the first appearance of Robert E. Howard's barbarian hero Conan in Weird Tales. Since then, the surly Cimmerian has enthralled millions, featured in prose, comics, films, television, cartoons, and games (computer, board, card, and roleplaying). Since Howard's death 80 years ago, his most famous creation has influenced the fantasy genre. We take a look at some of his more interesting appearances on film, focusing on a short documentary about his life, as well as a viewing of John Millius' classic film, Conan the Barbarian. Jason will have a print out of the core rulebook of Conan: Adventures in an Age Undreamt Of with him and other bits and bobs of this Modiphius game to show.

The Royal Tomb of Seddin

Host: Dr. Christine Reich

The King’s Grave in Seddin (in the Prignitz region, 16 km southeast of Schloss Neuhausen) lies beneath the largest burial mound in northern central Europe and constitutes the most outstanding example of late Bronze Age sepulchral culture in Brandenburg. It is one of the few monumental graves dating to the 9th century BC in the region north of the Alps. The burial chamber, that was originally plastered with loam and colorfully decorated, is outstanding as is the equipment of the grave. The royal tomb of Seddin is part of a ritual landscape that includes smaller burial mounts and places where rituals and offerings took place.

Monsters, Gods & Myths (MGM)

Hosts: Evil Eini & Good Daffi

As gamers we take a lot of liberties concerning myths and things about them. But are we able to part reality and fantasy? And can we tell who belongs where? Or are we all swimming in a sea of ignorance?

This fun quiz will present water creatures, myths and gods. Unfortunately the myths and the resulting creatures got a little mixed up, and it will be your task to bring the monsters, gods and creatures back to the right myth!* Like Neptune, we all know the guy, but was he Greek or Roman? And that's an easy one...

*Smartphones, tablets and other gadget are not to be used during the quiz. Well, you might chose to cheat, but think about the responses of the creatures — green slimy nightmares and more...
